My thighs are on fire!

So I signed up to do a 15 mile fun bike ride with the girls from work. I asked Jenny to go with cuz I know she hearts riding her bike. She talked me into riding the 30 mile instead. I'm not even going to discuss how much I slowed her down. I was ridiculously slow! The second half was very hilly and windy. I felt like I was pedaling 20MPH. When I looked down it was more like 8MPH. Wow! I am not where I should be as far as my training for the tri. WTH! The first 15 went better than the second. I whined and complained the whole time. Jenny should be used to that by now. What fun would it be if I just did it without complaining. right Jen? I stopped pissing and moaning when jenny threatened to make me ride home in the back seat if I didn't stop. good times........good times. Next year we'll have to bring the family's with. There was a fall festival going on, arts and crafts, trick or treating, a parade, etc. And most importantly.......a beer tent. :)

Last night I squeezed in a 5k with Izzie in the stroller. She's 9 mos now and enjoys her rides. That was the first time I have tried to jog with her in her stroller though. Whenever I started running faster, she would make this funny "ooooo" noise. I felt a little like Team Hoyt. I also had the bejesus scared out of me. It was dark and this car kept slowing down behind me and then when I turned around they would turn the corner. A couple minutes later they were behind me again and slowed down. When I turned around they turned the corner again. Finally, they pulled up right next to me and it was too dark to see who was in the car, but I could tell there were four people. I picked up my cell phone and dialed my home number. I wanted to tell Jeff where I was and keep him on the line in case something happened. They rolled down the window and I heard an old man's voice ask me where orchard street was. I think I peed a little. No more running by myself in the dark!

St John Vianney Fun Run 5k(1mile walk)

WoW! That was my best time ever. I took a super short cut cuz I was following everyone else.
My time was 32:57. The best I've done a 5k in is 38 something. Everyone followed some kid on a bike for the route and there were High School track members sitting at certain points telling you the time and showing you which way to go. But at a key turn in the race there was no one, so everyone just did the loop and went back the way they came. Oh Well. It's just for fun. The garmin says I did the first mile in 3:04 (holy crap batman!). The second mile in 11:48. Third mile in 10:35. And the last .75 mile in 7:28. I'm pretty happy about the 10:35 mile. That ain't half bad for me. I think I was listening to a faster song at that point. Whatever works :) Jacob did the 1mile. That's his picture coming across the finish line. And He ran me across the finish line ringing JWIM's cow bell. I just have one thing to say.......MORE Cowbell!!! Jen and Mike also caught the tail end of the race. They showed up in full spandex which is pretty funny cuz they were the only ones. It was a small race sponsored by a church so no serious runners or anything else. Thanks Guys for coming to watch. I feel kinda weird having you watch me. You should have ran this one also. Your so lazy. You act like you did a 1/2 mary and a du this weekend or something! sheez!

Does this look like a girl who enjoys running? No. I think my heartrate is about 240-250 right now.

And as usual Jeff looks like a gazelle.

Picture of Mike hammerin it home. I couldn't find one of JWim on the website. I'll have to look again.

I haven't updated in a while. I've been busy getting the kids ready for the first week of school and trying to adjust to new schedules. I haven't been able to work out as much with Jake's flag football games, work, etc. I also haven't been posting cuz I think there are only about 3 people that read it and didn't think anyone would miss it that much. My posts are definitely not as riveting as JWim and mike's.

Anyhoo. I was able to squeeze in a 40 min fast/walk on one of my lunch hours this week. I hate being sweaty all afternoon while I'm working but that was the only time I would have been able to do it since Jake had a game that night. And today I ran approx 5k. It felt terrible! I walked alot and forgot my IPOD. I think I need something to help me keep a decent pace and to distract me from how much I hate running. I am also super frustrated that I have been running /working out regularly for 3/4 months and have lost only 4 pounds. WTH! I need to see some results soon or I'm done torturing myself. THIS BITES! I shouldn't blog when I'm grumpy should I? I'll try to be nicer next time.

Tomorrow Jeff, Jenny, and Mike are running the 1/2 marathon. Hopefully Jeff will finish without blowing his knee out. He's been nursing a self-diagnosed "runner's knee" for quit a while. Jeff's brother, brad, is doing the 2mile run. I'm just watchin this one. There is a 5k Sunday that I'm going to do. Hopefully it will go better than today's run.

Cow Chip Classic 2007

Last year at the Cow Chip Classic 2006 I was pregnant. I held everyones t-shirts, cameras, kids, etc. and watched my husband, sister, and brother-in law come across the finish line. I remember thinking to myself, there is no way I can be in shape by this time next year to do this. Well, this year I did it. It didnt' feel like a good run. I had to walk three times to catch my breath. But I finished it and shaved 2 minutes off of my time from the Shamrock Shuffle in march. Yeah for me! My official time was 37:39, 296/357 overall, 21/25 for my age group. This past week has not been a good week for training. My diet has also not helped either. A huge peanut butter bagel and diet coke right before the race? Not a good idea. Doughnuts the day before? not smart. Yes, Jeff , you were right. I am only wrong 2 times every year and that was one of them so enjoy! I will try to add pictures later if they ever get posted on the website. Because I know if there are no pictures, it didn't happen. And no one was around to hold all our cameras this time.

This year Jeff, Jenny, and Mike did the 10K. Of course Jeff got some bling (show off) for 3rd in his age group, 19th overall. He always says he is ahead of the "Dads" and behind the "running freaks" Somewhere in the middle is where he usually falls. Mike is so close to breaking and hour and Jenny kept up a very respectable 11:31 min mile pace.I may have slowed her down for the first mile. We ran together until the 5 and 10 k separated. Right at a very big hill. I was very happy I didn't' have to go that way. Maybe next year.

In other news, My sister and Mike got Jacob a leopard gecko for his birthday. It is officially the coolest present ever. We now have a pet that doesn't shed or make noise and I don't have to hear, "Can we get another dog?" at least for a while. He loved it so much he slept next to his cage for the first week or so. It's nocturnal so Jake would stay up very late watching it and wake up with bags under his eyes. Izzie is very close to crawling, but hasn't said mama yet. So far just a stream of dada. even though i carried her for 9 mos.......RENT FREE! I'll remember that Isabel! And Taylor is keeping busy with swim practice. School starts on Tuesday.....THANK GOD! It's time to go back :)
